Studio Ghibli’s “From Up On Poppy Hill” Wins Japan Academy Prize

Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki‘s animated film, Kokurikozaka Kara also translated to “From Up on Poppy Hill,” won the animation category in the 35th Annual Japan Academy Prize this year. The other nominated films included K-ON! The Movie, Tezuka Osamu no Buddha: Akai Sabaku yo! Utsukushiku, Meitantei Conan: Quarter of Silence, and Tofu Kozou.

Since the category of Animation of the Year was created five years ago, Studio Ghibli has won once more with Karigurashi no Arrietty in last year’s Japan Academy Prize. They have won Picture of the Year for Mononoke Hime and Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi in the previous years before that.
